Seems like it should be very basic, but in my LR Classic 10.2 I now have in my filmstrip at the bottom of the screen , in Loupe view, the number of image in the strip, not the actual file name. How do I change that back to the file name?
If you right-click on the Filmstrip and choose View Options, there is a setting "show index number" which can be unchecked if you don't want that. However, to my knowledge the Filmstrip icons themselves won't show their filenames - a filename does appear in the very dark grey title area of the Filmstrrip, as you hover over each image.

I do not know of any option that would allow this to happen.
I can only see the same (no filename) if I de-select all images. [Ctrl/Cmd + D]
I note that in Grid view the filename of a selected image is in dull grey (not white). How is your monitor calibration? Are you seeing the difference between 'Dull Grey' and the UI background Grey?
Have you tried a Reset of your Preference file? (make a backup copy first to restore if the reset is not helpful)

Separately, there are options for Grid view with three alternatives, cycled through with the J key - thumbnail only, compact cell with minimal information shown, expanded cell with fuller information shown. You can choose which "extras" (text or symbols) appear in compact cell view or in expanded cell view, by right-clicking in the Grid display and again, choosing View Options. Also whether an index number should be shown. Since this index number is purely accidental and ad hoc, I personally never use that.
Separately, there is the option of a text information overlay for Loupe view - you can cycle between setup 1, setup 2 and OFF using the I key. You can right-click and select View Options - or Ctrl+J - to decide which info should show in setup 1 and in setup 2.
