Just a thought that you may have a faulty RAM module thats the internal memory of your computer if it fails for a fraction of a second could be a like mini-stroke in your memory.

”Computer crash” is not normally related to Lightroom it normally indicates a system problem, OS drivers or physical equipment.

When you restarted LRC, did it present you with the splach screns as when a new install had occured? Perhaps you got some tips showing up?

Could be the preferences file got stomped on and LRC thinks it got deleated and created a new preference file, resetting things to defaults.

Do you have a proper Uniteruptible Power Source? a UPS? Not just a Surge Strip.

Depending on how large a power surge they may or may not help. Also depending on the UPS capability.
