Converted DNG file folder deleted and I can't access photos in lightroom 5

Hi! I have the new Canon EOS R so I have to convert all of my CR3 files to DNG. No worries. I did that, uploaded them to Lightroom 5, then a few days later decided to "clean" my desktop. Ended up deleting the DNG folder of photos I need to edit, now I can't access photos to edit in Lightroom (the folder could not be found) Here is the kicker.... I emptied my recyling too and cleared my SD card. Ugh. I can see all the photos in Lightroom, but can't edit or export. HELP. Rookie move......

Restore a recent backup that contains these photos.

Don't store photos in a folder that can be seen on your computer's Desktop.
