Copy all metadata to new folder location

Recently upgraded a disc drive from HDD to SSD. Folder location for lightroom classic was on the HDD.

Copy images across to SSD and imported to Lightroom Classic but the metadata and edits are not there.

Is there a way of doing this efficiently please?

Copy and paste metadata doesn't seem to work.

Most images had keywords and many edits.

Thanks in advance.

Importing is the wrong method. Never re-import photos into Lightroom Classic. Reimporting means that Lightroom Classic thinks this is a brand new photo that it has never seen before, with no edits and no user-supplied metadata.

The proper method is described in "Part 2 — Updating Folder Location" of this document: http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm
