copy photo into another collection

I would like to place copies of photos into a different collection, while keeping the photos in the original collection as well. For example, I'm creating a calendar. I want to place selected pics in the calendar collection, but holding Option key (Mac) and dragging the photo moves the photo, not copy it.

However, as I go through different catalogs, I do see the same photo in multiple catalogs, so clearly there's a way.

Thanks for your guidance

There is only ever one physical copy of the image in the catalog. But that one copy can be in as many different collections as you choose to include it. One way to do that is to create the new collection and make that collection the target collection. Then go through your images and in the film strip Click on the little circle in the upper right-hand corner of the image. This will include that image in the target collection.

There is NO Copy function in LrC. It is counter productive to have multiple copies of the same image in different folders. In fact that is why LrC does not have that function.

But as stated above you can have the Name, the File Name, of any image file in as many Collections as you like. Collections are just Lists of image File Names. The physical File is still in the same Folder that is was either Place in or Copied to at the time of importing it (that is if you haven't moved it from the original folder to some other folder on your hard drive).
