Deleting files from OneDrive through Lightroom Classic

I am using OneDrive to store all of my photos straight out of camera. When I put my FlashCard into my computer (iMac), I'll import copies of the photos straight into a OneDrive synced folder. Lightroom has no issue syncing these and loading all of the previews. However, when I try to delete images I don't want, by right clicking on them and clicking the option to delete from the computer, Lightroom only seems to delete them from the catalog. The images are still on the OneDrive synced folder and are not moved to the recycling bin like they should be.

This is obviously very frustrating as I'm trying to free up space and unclutter my images folder. I have 1 TB of storage on my OneDrive sync. Worth mentioning that I am not using collections when deleting the files. I've searched other posts about this issue and cannot find a solution 😞
