Editing image LR in Phtoshop

All of a sudden I am unable to edit an image in LR Classic in Photoshop. I do the usual, choose from the drop down "edit in Photoshop", but the image fails to open up on PS. PS is already open when I try this

Please state the exact version NUMBER of your Lightroom Classic and the exact version NUMBER of your operating system and the exact version NUMBER of your Photoshop.

This Mac operates Catalina 10.15.7. Both PS and Lightroom Classic are subscriptions from Adobe Cloud - LR Classic is release 9.4. All available updates are current.
