Exporting RAW Files from LR 9.3 to PS 2020 too slow

Hallo,

 

if I want to export a RAW-File from LR to PS it take over 40 secands till the picture opens in PS. Here´s my Setup. I´m shure that my PC is not too slow and OK.

Just tested this on my system and it took 24 second (+/-) to open in PS once I right clicked on the image and selected Edit In > PS 2020

Oh and my system is from 2011 with a second gen i7 CPU, Older Graphics card and 16 GB Ram. But my system is over clocked to 3.4Ghz

Takes me 19 seconds. Must be your computer is too slow ... or something else is going on in the background ... or you have a much larger image than I do ... or you have done lots of local adjustments on the image in Lightroom ... or Lightroom is doing something in the background ... or a thousand other things. Really, there's no real way for those of us across the internet to know, it depends on too many things. Why don't you look to see what processes are going on while you do this?

I just tried with my iMac system from 2018 and 16GB of ran. TOok about 20 seconds or less. I do have an SSD as my internal drive and I was working on a photo that is on my external HDD using THunderbolt 3 as a connection.

I did not have any other applications open.  Maybe that is the key?

I´ve tested to to work with a new Catalog. Then it take 20-25 Seconds like any Others here. But I bought this new PC, witch is a Rocket, to increase this time. I hoped with this new machine, it doesn´t take much longer than a fingertip.

Are you doing lots of local adjustments?

 

If you open one photo in Photoshop and it takes 40 seconds, leave Photoshop open and try opening a 2nd photo from Lightroom Classic into Photoshop. How long does the second photo take?

So GPU driver v442.92

 

Probably this is not your issue, but it appears your GPU driver could use an update. At NVIDIA Current driver is v451.48

 

Use your copy of NVIDIA GeForce Experiance to update.

Hesitant to state. Because your GPU is so new and capable, this might be moot.

 

I see you are not using 4K and beyond.

 

In /preferences/performance/ are you selecting to use Graphics Processor? LrC can act poorly if not using a 4K display and having this on. You would have to experiment with this. 

 

Note, the option to use Graphics Processor can improve with newer GPU drivers.

As you are using a desktop NVIDIA GPU, not a laptop., or notebook, or tablet, or all in one computer.

A couple of thoughts, If Photoshop already open and The ACR version is in sync with Lightroom? If so this will speed up the process, Lightroom will communicate the data to render the raw file to Photoshop and Adobe Camera Raw (the Photoshop plugin) will render the raw file and it will be displayed in memory for further edits, when finished and you save the tiff / PSD file will be saved to the folder specified in the ”edit in settings”.

 

If Lightroom and ACR are at the same version but Photoshop is closed, first Photoshop will boot then the raw data will be rendered by Adobe Camera Raw and editing can proceed. So the process will be delayed for Photoshop to boot.

 

In the event Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw are not at the same version, Lightroom will render the raw data and save to folder of choice a tiff / PSD file which will open in Photoshop. When editing in Photoshop is finished and saved the tiff / PSD will be updated.
