Hi all, my external hard drive ('Tom 1') is showing up as a folder within a 'Volumes' folder, within my internal mac HD. As per the photo below.

I can't work out how to make the external drive appear as a drive in its own right. Is anyone aware of a solution?

Do the following in this order

1.  Right click on the "/" and select Hide this Parent

2.  Right click on "Volumes" and select Hide this Parent

If you ever import anything under Users you should Right click it and select Hide this Parent

Thanks for these tips, however this has just hidden everything as below. My external drive is still not showing up as its own drive.

I think I'm right in thinking it should appear in the same format as where you see 'Macintosh HD'

It worked! I did a new import having followed the steps above and now it shows, in all its glory...

Thank you Bob.

It should have showed up as a drive with 383 photos to start with and you shouldnt have needed to do an import.  I did a test of this before I posted in a test catalog and it worked.   Glad its working for you though.
