Please post the name of the Adobe program you use so a Moderator may move this message to that forum

This sounds more like a computer problem than an Adobe problem, don't you think?

  • Which OS and file manager are you using to create the new folder?
  • How much free space is on that drive?
  • Does your computer user profile have administrative level permissions?

Thanks for your help.

Catalina 10.15.4,  Plenty of free space on ext drive, a little less than 3T out of 4T drive.  Lightroom Classic 9.2.1.
Does your computer user profile have administrative level permissions?
How do I look for this?  Sorry, I am a little slow when it comes to some of this stuff…

Making a folder in Mac Finder does not cause the folder to show up in Lightroom.

What Lightroom task do you want to do with this folder, anyway?

I want to store photos under this folder.

I have not had this problem in the past.  I have always been able to add folders in the past.  In fact, I have LR on my MacBook Air and I can add a folder without a problem.  Seems that this problem has just come up in my IMac.

So now that you have created the folder using Mac Finder, can't you import photos into that folder? You should be able to.

I don't get what your saying?  I already have the photos in LR in a tempory folder.  I want to make another folder and move the photos that I developed into a new folder.  When I go to the ext hard drive top folder and attempt to make a folder in the hard drive, it say:The folder /Volumes/Seagate 4T Hard Drive/JFT could not be created on disk.

I have not had this problem in the past.  I made 100's of folders this way.

I will let me make a sub folder under the folders that I have already created.

Like I have said, I don't this problem on my MacBook Air, just this IMAC.

Most likely a permission problem then. You need to have write permission to the folder. I can't help you with setting Mac permissions, but I'm sure Google can.

But really, a better solution in the long run is to import the photos into the final destination folder, wherever you want to store them, and not bother with putting them in a temp folder and moving them, that's simply more work for no benefit and the same end result.

Do think it would help to uninstall and then re install?

Yes, I am the admin on the IMac.  No other admin.

If I can't make a folder in LR, how can I import them into a destination folder when it doesn't exist  See what I mean?

I think you have a Mac permissions problem.  See the correct answer below.
