I have a phantom copy of Lightroom. My catalog is supposedly running the other copy. Every time I try to open Lightroom, I receive a message that my catolog (3-5) cannot be opened because it is running in another app. I am prompte to close the other copy of Lightroom, but I cannot find it. Does anyone know what to do?

The problem is not a "phantom copy". The problem is that there is a .lock file which prevents Lightroom from reading/opening your catalog file; this happens often when the computer crashses and the .lock file is left in place.

Using your operating system, go to the folder where your Catalog file is located. Then delete the file whose name ends with .LOCK. DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING ELSE.
