Import folders

I have a problem with importing new photos. In the Destination setting is says organize " by date". Normally  when importing new photos Lightroom would create new folders, each with as name the date the relevant photos were taken on. I would also fee a little tick box that indicated in which folder a photo was imported.

The problem is that Lightroom is no longer making new folders (per date) when importing and I also can't see in which folder the photos are imported. There are no visible tick boxes.

Is there anyone who can help?
