I have a standard Import preset for my camera cards which renames images upon import. When I review a card's contents prior to using the preset, I check the filter for "new" images, yet Lightroom insists on selecting all of the images on the card, even the ones that have been imported from that card previously. Does Lightroom's "new" filter for importing not work? Is it not working because I rename the files upon import? You'd think that the app could still read the embedded preserved file name (as seen when checking the default metadata) to check which files have been previously imported, even if I change the file names for importing to the computer.
