Import problems

I just intalled Lightroom Classic today.  I've imported several files and started to edit them.  The import window keeps popping up every few seconds.  All the photos I imported are greyed out and I can't import them again. I hit cancel and it returns over and over again.  What have I missed?

Is that card still inserted into a card reader, or is the camera still connected to the computer by any chance?

No, I transferred the files to my hard drive.  Nothing else is connected.  I even uninstalled the program and reinstalled it.

If it is doing this when no card or camera is connected, one thing to check for is if there is any utility software or macro utility that might be sending the keypress Shift-Command/Ctrl-I, the shortcut that opens the Import dialog box.

What operating system? Is this something that just started happening? Have you had this problem in the past?
