Issues with Preset loupe view in Lightroom

Hi,

I have an issue with my presets.

I edit them with presets and the issue is that, the preview when hoovering over a preset to see how the result will be. Differs from the actual results from when i apply the preset. So the hovering over the preset (preview) differs from acctually applying the preset.

Anyone else seen this?

Hi Dennis,

Would you mind sharing the version of Lightroom you are currently using by going to the Help menu > System info?

Also, could you tell us if this happens only with the presets you have created/downloaded or with the default Lightroom presets as well?

You can try to uncheck the option to Use Graphics Processor (select OFF from the drop down menu) through Preferences > Performance and relaunch the application to check if that makes any difference.

What particular preset?

Does the preset apply a gradiant adjustment brush?

You could try resetting LR's preferences: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/articles-page/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

LR not infrequently soils its preferences file, causing inconsistent behavior in the application.  The article explains how to save and restore your old preferences if this doesn't help.

Hi,

Tried that too. Did not work, so i even tried to delete LM from my Mac. and installing it again. And still no diffrence. But im still suspisious since it did not seem to remove any of my presets i had installed and it brought up the same photos i was just editing with flaggings etc. It feels like this should have been removed if i reinstalled it?

Uninstalling/reinstalling LR only reinstalls the application proper -- it doesn't delete your existing catalog, photos, presets, or preferences.

I wonder if this is particular to the presets and/or the images or the combination.  Upload the preset and the sample photo shown in your screenshots and let's see if the issue happens to others of us.  To find the preset's .xmp file, right-click it and do Show In Finder.  Upload them to Dropbox or similar and post the sharing links here.

Using the preset you posted, I identified the bug: A preset containing IncrementalTemperature and IncrementalTint values doesn't hover-preview correctly when applied to a raw.

I filed a bug report in the official Adobe feedback forum, where Adobe wants all bugs reported:

https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lightroom-preset-hover-preview-incorrect-for-...

Please add your constructive opinion to that bug report, and be sure to click Follow and Me Too in the upper-right corner. That will make it a little more likely Adobe will prioritize a fix.

More details:

IncrementalTemperature and IncrementalTint are the internal names of the settings of the Temp/Tint sliders when editing a non-raw.  Though the the sliders have the same name for raws and non-raws, they in fact are completely different controls.  Temp/Tint have a range of -100 to +100 for non-raws, while for raws they range from 2,000 to 50,000 and -150 to +150.

Until now, I didn't it was possible to apply IncrementalTemperature and IncrementalTint to a raw. I went back to LR 6, and it was possible in LR 6 too.  This bug doesn't appear in LR 6, though, because hover-previews of presets were introduced later in LR 7.

I forgot to mention that your preset has values of +20 for IncrementalTemperature and IncrementalTint.  So the preset must have been constructed from a non-raw photo.
