while attempting to import a photo to my catalog i think i accidentally selected import new catalog and then selected a jpg file. Lightroom then crashed and will no longer open.

when i try to open i see a dialog box, "opening (filename),jpg.lrcat and then nothing, no crash log, no message, just nothing

I have tried to open while selecting shift/alt and lightroom.exe at the same with the same results

I have uninstalled. restarted my computer and reinstalled. no difference

i have uninstalled, deleted the lrcat file rebooted and reinstalled, no difference

there is no lock file in the photos\lightroom folder

i am at a loss as to what other solutions i might try

<Edit>

I notice I only have one catalog file on my system and it has a different name than what lightroom is attempting to open

I have unhidden files and folders looking for a lock file and found none created int he last 2 months

Go back and doublecheck for a lock file, that crash should have left a lock file in place.

ive already searched the c drive for a .lock file

ive searched specific folders for the .lock file

ive searched every folder that has any lightroom files for a .lock file

i think it has something to do with the double extension, but i really dont know

running win10

been using lightroom since version 1.3 never had a problem before 😞
