I'm having issues with LR 6.0 not opening.  Last week it was working fine.  But not it just spins with no error messages.  I do have a lot of pictures.   I'll  also read responses from prior posts.

Thanks Much!

Hi there,

We are sorry about the experience due to Lightroom 6 not launching. Please share the operating of the computer on which you are facing this issue. Did your computers operating system go through an update recently?

You can try to reset the preferences of Lightroom using the steps mentioned here: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html

Let us know if that helps!

Regards,

Nikunj

Hi,

Yes, it was slow for a awhile along with the rest of my computer.  I did an update on my PC and then it stopped opening.  Just spins. I have a Dell Inspiron 17 5759, 16 GB, 64 bit PC using Windows 10.  It's about 3 years old.

I'll try adjusting the settings.

Thanks!

It spins, but does it eventually just close?

And is the catalog locked? see: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/lightroom-error-catalog-cannot-be-opened-lrcat-lock.htm...

Hi David,

I let it spin for a while then I close it. So I don't know if it will close on its own.  It started doing  this after I did an update to my PC.

Thx

So, a bit that I keep on hand to post relating to preference file reset

________________________

Sounds like a canadate for resetting the preference file. Resetting the preference file is Adobe speak for deleating the preference file and then letting Lightroom Classic to recreate it.

The preference file can get corrupted, resulting in odd behavior. Some people have a knee jerk reaction in thinking they need to uninstall then reinstall Lightroom Classic, maybe that could be called for, but it would be better to first reset the preference file.

Be aware that resetting the preference file will result in Lightroom Classic creating a new catalog instead if opening your previously opened catalog (normally) so make sure you know where your catalog is.

Be aware the resetting the preference file will revert some settings in Preferences to defaults. So be aware of what you have changed, so that you can put those back the way you want them.
