Lightroom Classic 10.2 on Big Sur chokes on preparing slideshow

Ever since upgrading my MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) to Big Sur and the most recent version of LrC, I'm unable to load a slideshow containing more than 190 images. Past 190, the Preparing Slideshow progress bar hangs at about 70%, even though the total number of slides has been reached. If I don't cancel, the screen will eventually go black (this takes about three minutes) and the processor will run full throttle.

Running the previous version of LrC, which had no problem loading our regular slideshow collection of 13,000 images on Catalina, produced identical results on Big Sur: insufferably slow loading, if at all. Running both versions in Safe Mode was no different.

Hoping that Adobe can ratchet up the LrC app to play better with Big Sur, as this is an enormous drawback.
