A few things you can try:

  1. Update your graphics driver
  2. Disable the GPU.
Since you cannot launch Lightroom to disable the GPU in Preferences, you have to edit the preferences file.
Make sure Lightroom isn't running in the Task manager, then use Windows Explorer and go to
    C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences
Open the file Lightroom Classic CC 7 Preferences.agprefs in Notepad. Towards the end of the file, there's a line that says useAutoBahn = true,   change this to useAut

    Now try to launch Lightroom.
  3. Delete the preferences file (the one mentioned above).
It may be corrupted, and Lightroom will create a new one on launch.
  4. If none of these suggestions work, try uninstalling and reinstalling.

Hi Both

Thanks for your help. It was eventually resolved by Adobe tech after hours online. It appears to have been a Preferences Issue which was further complicated by a pending Windows Update that hadn't loaded.

Thanks for your help both of you! Appreciated.

Hi Derek,

Sorry to hear about Lightroom Classic crashing at launch, let's make it right.

To add to what Per has suggested, if the all the steps does not help then use the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool to completely remove Lightroom from the computer and reinstall it again via the Creative Cloud desktop app.
Link for the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool: Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

You may also try the steps mentioned here and see how it goes: Lightroom Classic crashes at launch on Windows

Let us know if it helps.
Regards,
