Lightroom Classic refuses to see nvidia Geforce GT520 graphics card

We updated to Windows 10 on 29 March. On 2 April we noticed a problem with Lightroom which we appeared to have solved by updating the drivers for the GT520 graphics card. However, there still appears to be a problem with moving images from Lightroom Classic to Photoshop. The Lightroom Develop module appears to be looking at the integrated Intel (r) HD card and not the GT520 graphics card. When we move the image to photoshop, the GT520 graphics card switches off so that Photoshop no longer sees it and no longer works correctly. If we close the image, then close and reopen Photoshop, it sees the GT520 graphics card again.

We have tried changing the settings in the Nvidia control panel to make the GT520 the preferred graphics processor in the global settings and also selected 'High performance Nvidia card' option as the preferred graphics processor for Lightroom. Neither of these worked. We also tried disabling the Intel graphics card, but Lightroom would not open at all with this disabled.

Is there anything else we can try short of buying a new computer?

The GT520 GPU is very low performance and not likely to improve LR's performance. In LR Prefences> Performance tab set 'Use Graphics Processor' to OFF and see if that fixes the issue.

NVIDIA GT520 came for Desktops and for Laptops 520M

Is this a Desktop or a laptop

Looks like that GPU is so old that NVIDIA has not put out new drivers for years.

Thank you for your replies.

The computer is an Acer Aspire Touch All-in-One Z5801 desktop which we've had since 2013 and came with Windows 7, Core i5 and the Nvidea Geforce GT 520 graphics card. It originally had 1TB hard drive and 4MB RAM, but we upgraded the RAM to 12 MB about 4 years ago.

We haven't done any other upgrades until 2 weeks ago when we upgraded to Windows 10 and that is the point at which we started to notice performance issues with Lightroom. It was suggested on here that we needed to download upgrades to the GPU which seemed to help restore the performance of Lightroom. The one thing we can say is that updating the GPU driver has fixed the problem we had with Lightroom, despite the fact that preference is saying 'graphics processor acceleration is not supported by your system' and the option to switch 'Use Graphics Processor' on or off is greyed out.

However, it was then apparent that Photoshop now has performance issues and that is why we opened this thread.

We followed your link and updated the Nvidea driver as shown in the instructions there, but unfortunately that hasn't made a difference.

So an All-in-1, which is to say, basically a laptop with touch screen, I suspect this rig uses a low power CPU, or whatever it is called, puts out less heat, takes less power, but trades that for performance, and you cannot increase the power settings.

As such, tip 8 in the following may not work, may be hazardous: https://au.pcmag.com/windows-10-1/5180/11-tips-to-speed-up-windows-10

And as for the GPU, in that rig, this will not help: https://www.winhelp.info/boost-lightroom-performance-on-systems-with-nvidia-graphics-chip.html

On that rig, if applied, If allowed,  the fans will probably go into overdrive, even if not on battery only, you may get overheating, probably void warranty.

When you eventually replace the computer, avoid all-in-ones like the plague.

No matter what you do, you will not get advantage in LRC via use GPU.

As for PS, have you posted your issue in the PS community page? Many of us LRC users, only step into PS for small simple edits, then get right back out.
