This is only a lightroom issue. I checked the photos in photoshop with camera raw and the photos are fine.
After importing into lightroom I get this error.

Have you generated Lightroom previews or could you be looking at the embedded jpeg previews? It’s possibly a hardware problem. Did you connect the camera, use a SD slot or a card reader. As a process of elimination try importing again using a different card reader and perhaps a folder on the C drive rather than the E drive.

This is a corrupted file, which happens because you have a hardware malfunction somewhere in the transfer of the photos to Lightroom. You have to perform diagnostic checking of all components involved, including transfer hardware, hard disk and computer memory.

I presume you are still working on checking your system as suggested by dj_paige above, which may have solved your issue.
You mention that the image files in question load successfully in Photoshop and Camera Raw, so I am presuming they are RAW files.
Were they viewed in PS before importing into Lightroom?
If so, did they come to Lightroom via a card reader or some other external device?
If they were viewed in PS after importing to Lightroom, can you post a screen shot of that thx?

After removing them from lightroom and trying again, the error started happening in other programs as well. I don't know what happened. This is a learning thing for sure. Next time I wont delete the images from the card until after I checked them. The crazy thing is that the windows viewer showed them as being fine.
I checked the camera itself and did kind of a stress test and it seems fine, so its probably my card reader, as all of the photos that I took during that stress test were fine.

Windows viewer would be showing the embedded JPEG files within the raw.
Were these RAW files?
ACR would be showing the embedded JPEG as well.
When you state that you checked them in Photoshop with Camera RAW, did you click on that Open Image button, and actually see. the converted image in Photoshop?

???
I think ACR shows an on-the-fly conversion, the same way that CR (the Develop Module) does in LR.

I suspect not. In fact a Preview option exists, allowing you to see what the conversion will look like, it uses Photoshop to create the view
The New Before And After Previews In Adobe Camera Raw
hmm, but maybe it does:

Raw set in camera for B&W embedded jpg, opened in Windows Photo Viewer:
Same Raw opened in ACR:
ACR opens with an immediate preview of default editing.
