Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs.

The screenshot you attached does not show the lower portion of the Lightroom window. The lower area shows the filmstrip "small thumbnails of the images. You must have one selected for it to display. That's all I can think with the limited info. PS, if you hover over a thumbnail it will display in the Navigator.

Thank you, however that isn't the issue as the filmstrip was there and I had even clicked a photo and it was open in the library then I went to develop and all I get is a grey screen.

We need to see more if your screen. Need to see the film strip, need to see that an image in the film strip is selected, that image in navigation panel is the one selected in the film strip, need to see histogram. History panel should be visible.

Consider resetting the preferences file.

It can get corrupted. This is Adobe speak for deleting the existing preference file then restarting LrC (LrC will create a new preference file) Note that some settings in preferences may revert to defaults

In LrC, in /preferences/performance/ is use graphics processor on? If so, try with that off.

Not much advantage if less than 4K anyhow
