Lightroom no longer runs

A few weeks ago, my installation of Lightroom Classic simply stopped working. I am working on a MacBook Pro running Mojave (10.14.6). LR crashes every time it is launched. Updating today to the latest version (9.0) has not helped. So far, the only workaround has been to create a separate User Account (LR runs fine in the other account) which makes me think that a support or preferences file somewhere has got corrupted. Any idseas would be greatly appreciated!
