Lost all my edits!

I wanted to reorganise my image folders, so I did it within lightroom classic to ensure that I didn't lose all of the edits to my images, but when I went back to look for an image and to re-export it in a different format all of the edits on my images were gone, including ratings and everything I did in the develop module. I have the lightroom back ups but I can't re access the edits/exif files because the images are no longer where they were. Thousands of images have lost all of their edits. I have no idea what to do! 

Is there a way to re-sync the exif data to the files? I haven't changed the names  of any of the files, but I changed their location within lightroom?

Managed to recover from the back up, very big relief!
