  • I am a LR 5 stand alone product user
  • I have a Sony A7Rii camera
  • I want to have LR support for the uncompressed RAW images from the Sony
  • Can I get this functionality with LR 5; do I have to have LR 6 to do this
  • Can I purchase an update to LR 6 and from where-none of the Sony reps can tell me- one said ask in forum and that the price was $79 but they could not sell to me.  They said I should be able to buy on the site.

Thanks for your help

Ah, that was a typo by Axel Matt, who should have typed version 6.1.1, and so 6.8 is a later version that does support your camera.

For RAW images of the Sony A7RII you need LR 6.11 or higher.

You can buy an update only in the Adobe shop.

You can also use the FREE Adobe DNG Converter to convert your camera's RAW photos to DNG, and then import the DNGs into your Lightroom 5.

Thanks for the responses:

Three spinoff questions:

  • If I get the LR 6.x update from LR 5, do I still have to do something with ACR?  If so, where do I find this on my Mac?
  • Do you have any idea which version of LR 6 is currently being sent from the download site?
  • Is there a required Mac OS version to run LR 6?

Thanks,  Walter

If you use Lightroom, you can ignore ACR. It has no effect on Lightroom.

I assume you get the latest version of Lightroom (which is 6.8) when you download, but you may have to download, install, and then apply the Lightroom 6.8 patch, it isn't hard.

report. but you say that LR 6.8 is the latest version. how do we

Thanks again for your help:

Do you have an answer to:

Is there a required Mac OS version to run LR 6?
