LR catalog backup error: table overflow

I exited LR and started the backup (with optimization), and it was taking much longer than usual. Finally, I got an error message that I can't find on Adobe's site: "An internal error has occurred: table overflow." I can't find anything on this anywhere. Can anyone help?
