LR Classic freeze on creation of new catalog

Im running the latest version of LR Classic (Version 10.2) on a Mac with macOS Big Sur 11.2.3

When trying to create a new catalog, LR freezes and shows no reaction. I must manually "kill" the app and restart. I had no problems with the previous release. Any ideas on what might be the cause?

When Lightroom Classic crashes, best thing to start with is a reset of preferences:
