LR Classic Import Seeing Adobe Program Photos

I was helping a friend import some photos from his Samsung SSD external HD yesterday.  When he selected the "Photos" folder on the external drive, the Import dialog box in Lightroom Classic diplayed his photos plus thousands of photos that were common to all Adobe programs and were located on his computer's C drive.  He confirmed that the Adobe photos were not located his external HD via File Explorer.  He right-clicked on one of the Adobe photos and selected "Show in Folder." The path was: C > ProgramFiles > Adobe > Creative Cloud Experience > Icons > Resources > Icons.  How can that be and how can he correct it?  (He uses a Windows PC.  His LR catalog is located on the C drive.)

Chances are, there is a folder shortcut present in the chosen source folder, or a subfolder, pointing to some C: drive location. LrC is then 'following' this shortcut, and treating this as if it had been a real local subfolder - one that really contained everything which that shortcut is pointing to. That's only so far as the inclusion of these files: as each such item gets imported, LrC does then refer to its actual storage location.

Un-checking "include subfolders" will prevent it from doing that.

You can then choose (besides the images immediately within the chosen source folder) all those subfolders which you do also want to include the immediate contents of - you can highlight multiple folders selectively, with Ctrl or Cmd+click.

Alternatively, get rid of that shortcut!

Richard,  My friend was able to find and delete the shortcut.  That resolved the issue.  Thank you--very much!

Glad it worked. A problem that I have experienced myself!
