It started happening quite frequently , right now, that while I'm working in LR classic the interface suddenly freeze . Normally , or more frequently , happens when opening menus or selecting actions.

As an example when selecting Export As an scrolling the options .

The process is not using much resources and the computer is running fine .

I have , then , to kill the LR process , delete the .lock file , and start it again

Anyone have such problem ?

LR is updated to latest release and so Windows 10

thanks

The first thing that you should try is to switch off the GPU support from the Lightroom preferences and check if that helps to fix the issue

Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance tab > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" > Restart Lightroom.

Adobe Lightroom GPU Troubleshooting and FAQ

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html

If this doesn't help we need more informations about your environment.

  • Which version of Lightroom do you use?

Please post the exact version number and not only phrases as "recent" or "newest".

Do you get an error message? If yes please post the exact message or an screenshot.

It happens because your system, computer, is busy doing something else and or it is running slower than it should becuse of the Power Options you have selected to save power or running slower because of heat build up which will make the CPU and all other components slow down to limit the heat output.

I see you haave multiple haard drives, good.

1. Camera RAW CACHE location, is it on C drive? Bad, should not be on same drive as WIN OS Paging file, if advoadable, two forms of CACH wrighting to same drive at same time, performance issue.

2. Devices/USB/Power settings for any external USB drives, make sure they do not power down if not in use.

Following link sort if addresses this, I would say, check other USB devices, not just hubs

https://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to/prevent-windows-from-powering-off-usb-device/

3. Camera RAW CACHE size, default of 5GB way too small, I have no idea what yous is.

4. See tip 8 in the following, note upon Windows updates this can be reset to defaults

https://au.pcmag.com/windows-10-1/5180/11-tips-to-speed-up-windows-10
