LR Update installed, pictures lost

I recently updated LR Classic, and it appears that a new catalog was created.  However, the catalog didn't include any pictures I imported since the start of 2020.  Any idea where they went?  They were all in LR prior to the update.  Thanks.

Some issue occured resulting in creating a new catalog.

Now was this an update, say v9.1 to v9.2 or an upgrade v8 tp v9?

If this was an upgrade, and that would be a major upgrade, you would have been told that LRC needed to update your catalog, if you refused, then a new catalog could have been an option.

The catalog update was required as the database program coding was changed. The update would actually involve creating a copy of the previous catalog, with updated coding.

So, try opening a different catalog.

The wrong catalog was accidentally upgraded.

In Lightroom, select File->Open Recent and then open each catalog (which may need to be upgraded) until you find the one with your photos.
