Hi,

I have all my photos on a local NAS, and sometimes my mac looses the connection when left for a day or so. ending up in LR not finding the pictures that i am editing Normally i would just go to library and open the import and its refreshed.

But now it dosent seem to work any more. and further more. When i give up and just remove it all to import it back again and at least beein able to restart my work, that dosent work either because LR refuses to find the folder that has been imported previously.

In a short time both bugs with presets have occurd https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lightroom-preset-hover-preview-incorrect-for-... and now this??

This is unacepptable! We are paying for a software continiously that just seems to be getting WORSE by the day????

Hi there,

We are sorry about the experience with Lightroom Classic.

The issue you have mentioned related to Presets is being investigated further by the product team. For the issue you have mentioned with your NAS, would you mind sharing more details on when the issue started? At the time when the connection to the NAS dropped, were you able to access your NAS through finder? Have you tried changing your router settings to check if that improves the stability of the connection with the NAS?

Regards,

Nikunj

Hi,

1, there have always been the problem with that when you drop the connection etc that photos says "not found", but it have always worked to go back to import and refresh it and then it works when you work with your photos. But that dosent seem to work now.

2 Yes, but it takes like 30 sec for it to start up etc. but after that it works as normal.

3, no, my router have been the same for several years, and i have not had this issue in the past.

4 on top of this, i noticed yesterday, that this issue also appears when you reboot your computer, even if you backup etc. And during that time the nas did not go to sleep or anything like that.

Not a heavy NAS user, and would use NAS for Copy/Backup storage, not for working file access.

But anyhow.

Looking at your screenshot. A bit confused. I see a volume  called Photos, or is that a folder? Would expect a volume indicating a networked volume. To me, Photos would be a folder in your boot drive.

Hmm, what about GAIA_Prime? Is that your NAS?

Getting at, is your NAS mapped in your computer?

Hi,

well yes its slower than doing it on the HDD but its more convinient since you dont need to move around files etc, and have been working for a long time.

GAIA_Prime is the nas it self, Photos is a drive/share on the NAS, under that all the photos are in diffrent folders.

Have to agree with the above. NAS great for Backups, Not so great for working off of directly.

So Open Finder and make sure the NAS shows up before you open LR Classic. Also Reboot your systeem more often.

Well it have been working so far for several years.

And normally this is what i do. but now it dosent seem to matter that i have it in finder first etc. even rebooting the computer causes the same issue. And when that have happend you can't edit the photos, you can refresh the photos in library tab as i used to be able to, and even if i delete all the photos etc, i can't import them again because lightroom refuses to even show the folder since its already been imported once.

2. How about sharing a screenshot of your Library module , with one of your NAS folders, nit a collection, not All Photos, but one of the folders, showing in the Folders Panel, and photos previews showing in grid view. In fact, how about your top most folder (on the NAS) with Parent folders showing.

Espect to see some ! marks and ? marks

Can't since the photos are already removed, i solved it by installing LR on my laptop and importing them there and finish it there.

P.S.

You stated in the past you fixed your issues with missing photos by re-importing. Perhaps you mean syncing folder?

Actual solution should have been right clicking on folder and select find missing folder

similar to missing on normal hard drives

Some additional questions, perhaps someone that is a NAS user might ask.

Does your NAS have a static IP address? and if not, has it changed.

In your NAS management, has the volume name of the share changed? Have rights changed?

In your NAS management, what logs? Any errors?
