I am trying to consolidate images from many scattered sources. I know that there is extensive duplication, but my thought was to first get all the images into one catelog, then identify duplicates. I had, to the start of the current process, imported about 560,000 images to Lightroom. Having had great success importing 10-15k images at one time, I also have "move" checked so that I won't lose track and re-import more duplicates. I recently hit import on a 5 TB folder. It initially ID'ed about 245k images. Once the import was complete, there were 43k images in the "recent import". The "move" component has completed, and the initial 5k folder is now about 300M of photos and movies that Lightroom could not import.
So, now the program remains "responsive" to some extent. I can scroll pages, and view some images, but many images do not have previews and do not load if clicked. The progress bar has not moved in several days.
How can I know if progress is still being made or estimate how much longer it might take? I drive a late 2013 iMac.
Thanks,
AIH

If you are using the Move option then LrC must first COPY the images to the New Destination and then Delete from the old. Could be your HDD/SSD is becoming full? As it must have enough space for the initial Copy to happen before the secondary Delete process happens.

I have Drobos, so I have ample storage space. The "copy/move" seems to be complete. Since my post, the progress indicator has changed. Previously, it said "2 processes. Now it says "Move and Import Photos" but the bar has not moved in 24 hours. I have 4.89 TB free space on the destination drive.
Another "interesting" item is that the count for "all photographs" went up almost 200k (there were just over 200k id'ed to be added initially) but the current import still lists 43295 and has not changed in most of a week.
