moving images

Hi my images, mainly raw are all stored on my MAC which is now going quite slowly, I intended to move all the images to an external hard drive but want lightroom to still be able to find them. Do I just use Move in LR?

You could do the move in Lightroom Classic, but sometimes people run into problems, and so the method I recommend is described in "Part 2 — Updating Folder Location", with screen captures, of this document: http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm

Basically, you do the copy (not move) in your operating system, keeping the folder hierarchy unchanged (just moved to a new disk), this is a key point. Do NOT take this as an opportunity to move folders from here to there in your hierarchy, and do NOT take this as an opportunity to move photos from here to there. Then, once you have finished doing the copy, use the Lightroom command Update Folder Location on the parent folder of your hierarchy. (Then, optionally, once all that is working, and only then, delete the photos from the original disk)
