My LrC will not import photos from disc

Hi I hope that somebody can help me rather quickly !   I have been using LrC successfully for several years. 

Today SD card inserted (thumbnails show up as usual ) - Import destination selected. Import clicked and nothing happens. 

Import status bar stays empty.  Rebooted etc - no change 

How do I fix this .. LrC was updated today to see if that was the problem.

I don't know why this doesn't work.

But try copying the files to the destination folder using the OS – Windows File Explorer or Mac Finder.

Then use the Add option (top center in the import dialog) to import.
