I forgot to select the option not to duplicate photos when importing a file with thousands of photos. Are there any LR tools that fix this? I'm doing it manually and it's taking a long time!

Are they actual duplicates or is this a raw and jpg issue?
If the latter, you can select the folder that has the images, go into Library -> Grid View, and on the top you can select Text (searching) and search for jpg. It should find ALL of the jpg images in that folder and then you can select all and delete.
If it's the former, than they should have the word "copy" in the name (or something like that). Same thing: search for the word "copy" and then delete them.
If there's nothing unique about these images, put on some nice music and have a pleasant afternoon.
Sorry, best I can do.

Did you import from a memory card and so copy the images? And do you still have the memory card with those photos? In that case the easiest way to solve it is this:
1: Select the 'Previous Import' collection.
2: Select all photos.
3: Press the Delete key.
4: Lightroom will ask you if you want to remove the photos from the catalog only, or from disk too. Delete them from the disk too.
5: Insert the memory card again, import the photos again, but now do check the 'Do not import suspected duplicates' option.
