problem saving back to LRC

Until recently when I opened  a file in in PS from LRC it would always save it back to the same folder.

Now it saves it to the last folder I used in Photoshop and I have to import it back to LR.

Is there a way I can get it to save it back to the same folder in LRC?

Thank you,

JohnL

Try resetting PS Preferences file as outlined at the below link.

Try using Save and not Save As.

I always use "File Close" when I'm done editing in PS, and the edited file shows up right along side the original image in LR.

In PS Preferences> File Handling make sure 'Save As to Original Folder' is checked. Close and restart PS and try again.

Thank you. I've always used the "Save to original folder."

When I just save it usually saves back to LRC . When I'm finished editing I prefer to save with the a print size or some other identifying item with the original file name. It has worked fine for years but recently it doesn't save that way. If I make any change it sometimes saves it to a recent folder or to the original folder and not to LRC. Also when I save as a tiff or psd it won't always keep the layers. Even when I open in PS from LRC with the original or copy. It does save the layers in the saved folder LRC won't open them into PS.

I appreciate you help.

John

Thank you very much for this suggestion.

So far, after I made the changes, it seems to be working correctly.

Hi there,

I am having this same issue, I have made no changes and now all of a sudden all my PS edits are not saving to LRC. I have tried the resetting instructions that you linked abobe, but still not working.

I am a new photographer and have a very important client deadline.. It was supposed to be tonight, but I can't get it figured out!

Can you please help me?

Thank you,

Anne-Marie

"still not working" does not give us much to work with!

What are the Version Numbers of Photoshop and Lightroom-Classic?

Do you use [Edit In] or [Export] to send a file to Photoshop?

Are you sending a JPG, TIF, or raw file to edit in Photoshop?

Do you use [Save] or [Save As] or [Save a Copy] or [Export] in Photoshop to 'Save' your Photoshop edited file?

Is your Lightroom-Classic Folder sort set to Filename Order, Added Order, or something else, for the file you send to Ps?

Do you have 'Automatic Stacking' turned 'on'?

What are your options for Photoshop set in the Preferences?

Regards. My System: Lightroom-Classic 13.2 Photoshop 25.5, ACR 16.2, Lightroom 7.2, Lr-iOS 9.0.1, Bridge 14.0.2, Windows-11.
