Hey ya'll. I am a complete noob so please bear with me. Is there any way to export a photo with edits so that I can move that file to a computer without the original raw file, continue editing it and export it as a jpeg there? Or am I asking the dumbest question ever? Thanks.

I see 2 ways to do that:

1. Export as catalog

Create a collection and move your photo to it.

Right click on the collection and select "Export as catalog".

Copy this created catalog to the other computer.

On the other computer, select File > Import from another catalog

2. Export edits in a XMP side car

Select your photo.

Press <Ctrl>S (on Windows), <Cmd>S (on Mac), this will export the edit in sidecar file with .xmp as extension.

Copy your raw file and its xmp file to the other computer.

On the other computer, import the raw file. LR will detect the xmp file and import the edits as well.

Note that using the xmp way, you won't get the virtuel copy, the collection, nor the delop history on the other computer. Transfering the photo via a catalog will keep virtual copy, collection and develop history.

I believe exporting as a DNG format file will carry the edits with it also.
