Why is it so slow to sync files in Lightroom?

When in the field I now take my raw files and upload them into Lightroom via my iPad so they will be synced on my desktop computer back back in the studio.

I couldn't believe how long it took for them to sync. Why is this?

I did a test to show what I mean.

Syncing 1 raw file onto iCloud (via photos) too took 50sec

Syncing 1 raw file onto GoogleDrive (via photos) took 45sec
Syncing 1 raw file directly in LR it took 6m15s!!!

Why is the difference so dramatic and what can I do the reduce this time?

That is a great question. I don't have an answer but am wondering if you turned off the iCloud sync before you tested the Lightroom sync. I've noticed that iCloud sync seems to take priority.

Hi Theresa

Each action was carried out indevidually so there was no uploading from any 2 applications/services at the same time.

Although even if icloud and googledrive both took priority it would have still taken 4m40s for LR to sync, which is still an incredably long time for 1 photo.
