Updates to Lightroom Classic and the Lightroom Ecosystem products for Desktop, Mobile and Web were released today and contain a fix for this issue.

Please refresh your Creative Cloud application and install your update when it becomes available. Thank you for your patience.

It’s broken again. Getting a message: Error. Something went wrong

This is following the latest update of Instagram that installed yesterday.

I can still upload through the Creative Cloud app.

I have the same issue. I was able to post last night from my iPhone X and now keep getting error message. I updated both Lightroom mobile and instagram apps but the issue persists. PS: Exporting it gives the same error message.

I have the same issue since the latest upgrade of Lightroom on my iPhone 8 Plus.  All upgraded to the Lara test versions. In Instagram no issues with other posting photos directly from phone.

@Deleted User Has there been any progress? I have been trying for months to post from my iPhone SE 2020 to my Instagram feed and always get Error Something went wrong! I used to get both the Instagram icon and Copy to Instagram, but the latter has gone. Even if I press and hold the Instagram icon, I get Error Something ent wrong. Please try again later!! I notice that these issues were raised back in March - surely there is a fix now?? Please help!! Thanks Andy

Have you managed to share to Instagram from any other application besides the iOS Photos app? Apps like Whatsapp also fail, which makes it hard for me to assume that it's an Lightroom only problem.

I might have figured out how to solve it.
Go to the iOS settings/Instagram and enable All Photos access for Photos.

thanks,

Have you tried to look into the iOS Instagram app settings Photo settings?

Is it set to All Photos?

Thanks,

Ignacio

@Ignacio_B I’ve had the same problem as Gerry for months now. All apps are up to date and phone has access to all photos for both.

@Ignacio_B I’m afraid the solution doesn’t work on my iPad or my iPhone.

Please note that this issue is not a Lightroom issue, from what it looks like this is an Instagram issue.

There seems to be many reason for this error message:

  1. not authenticated accounts
  2. temporarily locked accounts (same as above but on step further)
  3. no access to photos app

In case you do run into this issue there might be two ways of getting around it once not connected to the account:

1. Verify that you are using the latest Instagram version
2. Check Photo access for Instagram app in the iOS settings
3. On newer devices - do a haptic tap on the Instagram icon in the share sheet to see if you can use Open in App.
4. restart device (last sanity check)

In any other case you might need to contact Instagram and their support.

In case you would be able to share images from other apps like e.g. Messages app to Instagram without having problems with Lightroom, then that would be something that could qualify as a Lightroom bug.

If you would have any issue, please specify iOS version, image type and let us know if you can share the same image successfully over the Photos app.

Sharing via the "Creative Cloud" app seems to work fine and is my workaround.

I’ve no idea whether it is an Instagram issue or a Lightroom Mobile issue. It is an issue affecting the interface between the two which for me first happened after updates to one or both Apps several months ago. One of your colleagues said at the time that Adobe were working with IG on the issue and it did get sorted with later updates. A few weeks ago it recurred albeit with a different error message.

I can share images from Photos and even Creative Cloud with IG ( as I stated above). The issue occurs on both my iPad and iPhone running iPad OS 14.2 and iOS 14.2 respectively.

Yes I can share direct from photos. IoS 14.1 I tried uninstalling and reinstalling both insta and Lightroom. Now when I try “share to Instagram” (since copy disappeared) I get “Error. Something went wrong” I have to export to photos and post from there.

Exactly how do you share over Creative Cloud as well as over Lightroom?
E.g. file type being exported, from which camera - dimensions, watermarks or not etc.

Does it mean that you can share to any other application from Lightroom?

It would help a lot to know the settings you use in Share to... or Export As...
Note that the Share to... settings can be found by tapping on the outer right side (settings) icon next at the same level as the Share to...

My workflow:

Import into LR Classic on laptop as a RAW file. Process in LR Classic.

Add files to collections which are synced with Lightroom / Creative Cloud.

All files in collections can be viewed and edited in LR mobile App on iPad. Attempting to send a file to Instagram which used to work but doesn't anymore involves selecting Share To which produces a .jpg copy and then selecting one of a number of options from destination icons. I can still share with Facebook, Twitter and Flickr but not Instagram.

The settings under Share To: .jpg, Small (2048px), 80% image quality, no watermark, include metadata, original filename, no output sharpening. I believe these are default settings as I have not changed them

I also have the Creative Cloud App on my iPad in which I can also see all of my collections synced with Lightroom. I can share images from this application with Instagram or any other application using the Quick Export option after selecting share. If I select Download Original File from the Share menu I can't export to Instagram but can to the other programs. I see the same message: "Error. Something went wrong"

Given how everything worked well for years and has now stopped working on two occasions after upgrades to LR and / or IG I do not believe the issue is anything to do with setting on my device / account which have not been changed by me at any point.

My workaround workflow is the same as @mark_hunter_965cai1ycl29o to be more specific (From Lightroom Synced collection):

1) Open the Creative Cloud app on my iPhone.

2) Select "LR Photos"

3) Select a photo to be shared.

4) Press "Share"

5) Select "Quick Export"

6) Select "Instagram"

7) Add a caption to the image.

8) Select "OK"

9) Select "Share"

I have been trying to upload photos to Instagram on my IPhone running IOS14.2 but I keep getting an error: “Error - something went wrong”. Obviously this isn’t a helpful message.

I have the latest version of Lightroom.
