We've been able to reproduce the bug on our end. Thank you for the report and details.

Workarounds:

  1. Enabling GPU seems to correct the issue.
  2. Moving to the next image and then back again will set the image correctly.

Note, the distortion is visual only (and annoying!) but doesn't appear to affect the export of the image.

What differences are you seeing? I could test on my mac and again on my win10 and let you know the results I am seeing.

What happens on my end when I crop is that it allows me to resize the crop but once I hit enter, it does not actually crop the photo.

It just resizes it slightly - the actual crop is not fulfilling - I do not have the ability to test it on a Macintosh computer, only Windows.

So - this is the crop that I want to take - after I press Enter - the bottom photo is the result, which is not the correct crop.

Okay - I think I found the solution, although originally I could leave the settings under CROP: ASPECT RATIO "As Shot, Original or Custom"  - they all would crop but NOW I had to select CUSTOM and it cropped the photo.

Please let me know if that helps you !!!!!

I am having trouble installing lightroom on windows.  I keep getting errors.  The Mac is not having any issues.  I tried about all the ways I could try and no problems.

Don't hold your breath!  You will probably need to revert.  I couldn't use the (at the time) current version of Lightroom for two plus months because it stopped supporting NAS.  It took forever for them to fix that.

I went a year trying to explain that quick import from USB wasn't working.  They told me I had a corrupt profile.  I see today it still doesn't work with NAS on the latest release.

I got it to work by selecting the Color Profile.

At least it works now.

So after I crop - I just choose the color profile and for some reason it crops it.

Weird !!!!!

Just updated to the newest version 4.0 and found that when cropping a photo, small image on film strip doesn't reflect that. Feels quite an issue to me to do proper cropping. Need to navigate to another photo then go back. Irritating when processing more of photos.

I'm using it on Windows 10, build 20201007-0818-b2c04b4 and crop works all OK (except that you can't define your own ratios)

@AdamDr Interesting. Just double checking - is it instantly previewing cropping on small film strip photos for you? Cause not for me. Was really disappointing and had to revert to older version.

Yes, it does. And applies the crop in the main image window when I hit "Enter". Here screen recording.

@AdamDr Weird. Cause was not previewing for me. Even enter was reverting to original not cropped version. So needed to navigate somewhere else and get back to the first photo to get changes reflected..

At this point, I don't have an answer and can't reproduce the behavior you are seeing.  Can you possibly record and share a video showing what you are seeing?

Mine is doing the same.  You alter the image, it doesn't appear to save until you save the image.

I have a screen video, but cannot find how to upload it.

Have you posted about the other problems you are having?  It would be helpful if you could start new threads for these.

I am having the same problem.  This seems such a basic feature, it's really shameful it's not working.  I'm on Windows 10 too

I have updated to latest version on Lightroom for desktop.  I’m only a beginner, but so far have found issues with cropping and menus not always being visible on drop downs.

cropping and straightening don’t appear to save. If you clock at the side, like previously, it reverts to original photo.  If you come out of photo and then back in, it has saved!

When I go to drop down menus after export is pressed, sometimes some menus are not there including select button - just have to click in general area, and it does save.  And even the destination folders are it always visible.  I have had that issue before, but it seemed to correct itself..Also paste edits, not always visible.
