P: iPad Lightroom top panel changes and filter button disappears

Community Beginner ,
Nov 04, 2022 Nov 04, 2022

Hi,
I recently purchased the iPad Pro 12.9 inch tablet specifically so I can edit my photos.
I am using light room for iPad 8.0.
After editing for short while, the upper panel disappears and the filter button is not visible (along with all the upper panel). I cannot seem to get the panel back.
When I exit the program and start it again the panel has reappeared. I am not sure what I am doing to make it disappear.
Does anyone else have this problem? Any solutions?

PS:  I should confirm that this is despite switching between the gallery and loupe views....

I have exactly same issue.

After a while of editing photos on iPad the top bar seems to glitch and some icons dissapear (like filter button or back button in the top left).

I hope Adobe fix this.

Hi,

I am very sorry to hear that you are seeing some UI issues in Lr. I tried to reproduce the issue you described by editing a few photos and going back to grid and loupe on iPad but seems like I am missing something as I wasn't able to see the issue. Could you please plrovide a few more details along with the screen shots and screenrecording if possible.

1. Which iOS version are you on?

2. Which version of the app do you have installed?

3. What kind of photos or videos were you editing?

4. Any specific edits that you made could possibly introduce this issue?

Once I get more details from you I will go ahead and create a bug for our Engineers to take a look. Thank you for reaching out to us.

Ad 1. Latest iPadOS, I think it's 16.1.1

Ad 2. The newest, I checked in AppStore, I think it's 8.0.1

Ad 3. It;s happening both with Fuji .RAF files as well as with Sony .ARW files.

Ad 4. Nope, it doesnt matter what I'm doing, to me it looks like it's happening after quite some time of editing, like 1h and more. Looks like 'intensive' editing is pushing app to do that.

Here are some screenshots:

Thanks for providing all these details.

Few more questions does your workflow also involve device rotation, backgrounding of the app, switching between apps, any time in between when you left the device go into sleep mode, or is the editing done in one continuous session without any break?

I will try to replicate your steps and reproduce the issue to log a bug so our developers can investigate with all the correct details.

Sorry about the inconvenience that you are having and thanks for your patience.

Does your workflow also involve device rotation? Yes, I'm turning my iPad according to photo I'm editing. So I'll switch between horizontal and landscape mode pretty often.

backgrounding of the app? Yes, sometimes I'm done with editing for the evening and pick up in the morning, without killing lightroom app in the background.

switching between apps? Yes, sometimes I'll switch between lightroom and other app like Photo Gallery or Safari or Files.

any time in between when you left the device go into sleep mode? Yes, sometimes for few hours like overnight and sometimes for couple of minutes like when I'm preparing a tea for myself.

Hi!

Very similar problems here:

- The undo button does not work at all times, I have to tap the question mark and the undo action is done; seems like the actions move to another button; very strange... and even the redo button is located on the undo button, ...even stranger

- Turning the ipad back from landscape to portrait mode makes the buttons completely disappear but when tapping where they should be located (upper right corner), actions like undo, redo and so forth work... but I have to tap in the "dark", strange, strange 😞

- Turning from portait to ladscape mode even makes the buttons appear twice...see picture!011CFBA2-F435-4DD1-8DDD-E03A47027A66.jpeg

Thank you for your help!

- The number of undo actions seems limited; only

So yesterday I closed Lightroom after finishing with my edits and today after opening the app it straight away messed up the top panel.

What's funny is that even though you can't see back button in the top left corner you can still tap the display there and it goes back to the library so it looks like the button icons are shifted and messed up but the actual button is still there, just invisible.

Does it make sense? English is not my native language so let me know if I need to explain something more precisely.

Take a look at the screenshots, first one is messed up and the second one is after killing and reopening the app.

Another example from couple minutes ago.

Icons disappear completely yet as you can see on a video I can press on the top panel to get a drop down options for various buttons.

Yes. I have posted and reported the same issue, as have a few others.
So far there have been no replies or explanations.
Anyone?

@TOMASZ25305309si2v can you still reproduce this issue on the 8.2 version?

Thanks,
