P: Photos edited on iPad reverting when opening Desktop

I'm so devastated.

I finally finished all of my edits from a photoshoot, all 7,613 photos, on my ipad and went to open the desktop version to send them off to Smugmug, just to watch as slowly, thousands of edits were reverted. The amount of time it's going to take for me to go back through each of these photos and undo this bizarre bug is just heartbreaking.

The worst part? This isn't the first time this has happened on this same batch of photos. Something has to be done about this. I made sure my iPad was fully synced before opening the desktop, and it still appears to be a consistent issue.

Everything is much faster to edit from my iPad, as the desktop app takes far too long to load each photo when going one by one.

Greetings,

I brought your post to the engineers for review and they've asked if you could share a link to an album with some of these assets so they can take a look at what has transpired on the server side. Is it possible to share a link?

That's certainly more helpful than when I reached out via chat support. After running circles, I was ultimately told to close out any mobile apps, open the desktop version, allow it to sync fully then close out Lightroom and to not have more than one version of Lightroom open at a time. Of course, this resulted in the last 2500 photos that had been spared getting reverted back, and I was then told to go ahead and one by one select the correct version on the iPad and make sure the changes show up on the web version, close of both fully, then open the desktop app and it should function. Of course, when I did this, the ~300 I had restored my edits on, were yet again changed back to before any edits on my iPad. As a test, I restored some with my phone, some with the web view, and it didn't matter which had been done, any changes made while the desktop app was closed were reverted.

The only workaround I've found for myself is to leave my computer with Lightroom open, so it can get any changes live as I make them. Definitely a redundancy, and impossible if I'm on the road.

I've moved over a couple of the photos that I've yet to restore my iPad edits on here:

Thank you. The Dev reviewing your instance has asked if you can provide diagnostic logs from iOS and LrD as well?

For LrDesktop

Go to Preferences

Account Section

Hold down the [Opt/Alt] key to make the [Diagnostic Log] button appear

iOS Log File

can be triggered when you open up the Lr Mobile settings and then navigate in to the Help&Support section and long-press (2-3 sec) “Access our Support Forum”-entry and a diagnostic log will be generated and attached to your local mail client.

The iOS report was emailed over as well, though I'm not sure if it's being generated properly as it appears as plain HTML.

Thanks, I will tell the Dev to watch for it.  You didn't copy yourself on it by chance?

I did not, but I did get this email back:
Your email could not be delivered Your reply by email post failed due to an unexpected error or because you do not have sufficient privileges for this resource or its parent to perform this action

I did copy the code onto a Word document, but I'm no longer able to add attachments to replies, and it's too long to paste as a reply.

Here's the link to the diagnostics.  LrDiagnostics.zip

Hopefully, the fact that I've needed to keep Lightroom running since this issue occurred to allow my changes to apply as they're made won't impact anything. I'm only about 2800/7600 photos being restored and can't afford this happening again.

I do have it set that anyone with the link can edit, I'm not sure why you're being denied. If it weren't 4 GB, I'd email it. When I'm back home, I'll try transferring it over to Google drive instead.

After briefly shutting down and restarting my computer, I've come to the conclusion that the desktop version is unusable. I was finally around 5000/7600 photos restored, and as soon as I opened the desktop program back up, it went right back to reverting several hundred of the photos.

Until there is a resolution, I'll only be using the ipad and web versions and might have to look into an alternative all together. I cannot afford to have any further setbacks in my work flow, and as is this has cost me a week's worth of valuable time and in turn lost income.

I swapped to my tablet since I couldnt export via the web or desktop version, and a random assortment of the photos have been reset. Yet again, I have to go through and fix who knows how many of them. 😩

At this time, I'm still unable to export the completed images. I tried with the iPad, and it took hours before they had been rendered and ready, but ultimately, only one ended up uploading. On the web version, zip files are corrupt when downloading, and when trying to share to google photos (the only other option), I keep getting a failure 10% into the export.

I'm still hesitant to open the desktop program for fear of all my work getting undone again.

I've pulled your LrWeb Zipped Files issue to a new thread as it is likely unrelated to this thread:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-ecosystem-cloud-based-discussions/download-from-web-zip-fil...

Regarding this thread, your unique workflow has necessitated a fix for Lightroom Desktop that will not be released until the next version. The issue does not affect very many people at this time. Until the fix is released, you might want to consider using the Desktop version sparingly.
