I was used to the fact that pressing "/" for the "Show Original" function within Lightroom does not revert to an original crop. This allows for precise comparison of exposure and color settings. Recently, that function has changed and now pressing "/" will not only revert all exposure / color settings but also go back to the original uncropped image. This makes it very hard to appreciate the extent of color corrections etc. I'd suggest offering a setting that allows users to choose which type of "Show Original" functionality they want: With or without restoring the original crop.
Lightroom CC 1.5 was released today and should address this issue. If you don’t see the update in your Creative Cloud App, hit the [Ctrl/Cmd]+ [Alt/Opt]+[R] to force a refresh.
Give the new version a try and let us know if it solves the issue.
Or use Alt + \, Shift + \, Ctrl + \ or whatever to controll whether to revert also crop or not. I would also prefer Showing originals without restoring original crop.
I am not able to reproduce on Mac OS 10.13.6. The crop remains intact with the [ \ ] key used to cycle before and after. It also works correctly for the before/after icon.
I'm on Windows 10. It's really annoying when you want to check in close-up for example the effect of sharpening, or noise reduction, and in general subtle color curve adjustments.
Interesting discussion. An original is an original, so without any edits and that includes cropping. I understand why one would often prefer to retain cropping, however. And what about lens corrections and perspective corrections? Should they also be retained or not? Perhaps we need a dialog like the copy settings dialog to check what we do and don’t want to retain.
Good point Johan. IMHO "Show original" should show picture with original light and colour settings, without healing spots, gradients and brushes BUT keep applied geometry settings, crop, lens and perspective corrections.
That would be how I like it, comparing edits without being disturbed by "moving" picture. It is not easy to compare slight colour edits while whole picture is rescaling, rotating and so on.
For someone else or some occasions geometric changes are also subject of comparison, so I suggest similar hotkey (like "ctrl+\") for showing original also with original geometry.

That is a great news. How it has changed exactly? Maybe I am missing something. When I press "\" it shows original photo like before, I mean i reverts even crop a geometry. I did not find any settings or switch to change this behaviour to keep edited geometry.
I double checked I really have v1.5 now, restarted app several times but still no success.
I do exactly what you say, yet for me the behavior is proper: It shows the original but without reverting the crop/geometry.
I am on Windows 10. If it doesn't work for you, maybe post the exact version number (would be a much longer string than just v1.5) so that the developers can look into this.
This bug was filed as before/after regarding crop settings. That appears to be fixed. It sounds like you are talking about an issue which is new to this thread and probably belongs as a separate problem report. Would it be possible for you to create a new thread with complete system details and a step by step process to what you are seeing and what you are expecting to see?
