When working with Adobe Lightroom I received an error - a problem with the local directory -, restarting the program does not help. At the same time, the Adome Lightroom Classic program works properly. How can I restore the functionality of the new Adobe Lightroom?

"Do I need to store the original files on another local drive?"
“If after importing to JPG, do I still store them in other drives?”

Thank you, deleting the folder Data helped, C:>users>username>AppData>Local>Adobe>Lightroom CC>Data , I used the latest version Lightroom CC 8.2, Windows 10. 
I used the mobile version, so I checked via my mobile phone if all the files in the cloud were OK. Do I need to store the original files on another local drive? If after importing to JPG, do I still store them in other drives?

It sounds like you’re importing JPG files into Lightroom and wondering whether you should also save copies somewhere else outside Lightroom. Even if the files are JPGs, it is always a good idea to keep a separate backup, ideally on another drive (external or cloud-based). Lightroom doesn’t physically move the original files unless you specify a storage location (under Preferences > Local Storage). Depending on your sync settings, it either references them or uploads them to the cloud. As you’re using Lightroom (cloud version), the originals get uploaded to Adobe Cloud. But it’s still best to store a redundant backup on a separate drive — just in case. Think Lightroom as a powerful editor and organizer, not a file backup solution.

 

So yes, whether you’re importing RAW or JPGs, always keep a backup of your original files in a separate, safe location. It’s just good data hygiene.
