Adding same description to many files in Lightroom

How do I add the same caption/description to multiple file using Lightroom? I tried to select all the photos and edit the caption in the metadata panel but itn only applies the changes on a single image.

Which Lightroom Version?

In Lightroom-Desktop v 7.1.2  it works for me-

Select multiple photos in Grid View, in the info panel, enter Caption, [Enter/Return].
