Adobe Lightroom for travelling

Hi there,

Hope you are well.

I’ve always loved Lightroom, and more recently the Lightroom mobile CC version, which have been performing well until I started running into storage space, while travelling.

I’ll be on the road for the next 3 months, with not great WiFi connections, in hotels etc.

I have an iphone128gb where I import my raw files, via the Apple SD card adapter, as always.

As my iPhone started to get full (running into another problem which is in the iPhone Storage, the segment ‘other’ occupies a lot of space and I don’t know what it is...), i’ve Imported some pictures into my iPad Pro, assuming these would be stored locally And then sync the raw files into the cloud.

But Now, both my iPhone and iPad get the uploading pending. I’ve been connecting to good internet in some hotels, but I can’t solve this problem.

1 // Any idea on how to solve the uploading pending problem?

2 // And when these sync up in the cloud, can I delete the originals locally assuming these ar in the cloud? (Don’t wprey I have a backup of the raws in a hard-drive, but I would like to keep the Edited versions in Lightroom catalogs).

Thank you very much in advance.

Joao

Yes, once the photos are safely synced to the Cloud they can be deleted from your device.

Could the pending issue be that the Hotel‘s upload speed be either really slow or that they have blocked upload data?

If you upload a raw photo to your iPad, then it gets stored locally first and then uploaded to the cloud. And then your iPhone will try to download this image too. Remember that there is no selective sync. Everything is synced between all devices! It's possible that your phone is causing the 'pending' problem, because it tries to download the new raw photos from the iPad but doesn't have the space for it. On both the phone and the iPad go to the Lightroom Mobile Settings and then Cloud Storage & Sync. Check 'Only Download Smart Previews' and see if that solves the problem.
