ANOTHER TRY - Want "edit in" from Lightroom to go to Photoshop beta

I asked this before and got a number of "upvoted" replies but no help.   WHAT IS AN UPVOTE, AND WHY DON'T I GET REPLIES?

'edit in' from Lightroom has been giving (only) option to Photoshop Beta since I installed it. But yesterday I updated Photoshop beta (have done this a number of times) and now Lightroom only has option for Photoshop '22. I read in one of the replies that if Photoshop beta is open it will be an option. NOT SO. Also another reply said create a ?command? (can't remember the name) that would carry out the "edit in Photoshop beta" command.

Before had " All I can do now is 'show file in explorer' and drag into Photoshop Beta - a real pain."   But THIS DOESN'T WORK because it's back to CR2 ie my LR edits don't go with it.

PLEEZE SOMEBODY HELP ME.   THIS IS A REASONABLE REQUEST.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

I will have a go at some answers for you.

"WHAT IS AN UPVOTE,"

Someone either likes your question/answer or agrees with your sentiment in your post.

"AND WHY DON'T I GET REPLIES?"

Other users of Adobe apps in this Commuity forum may not understand your question, or do not know an answer.

" 'edit in' from Lightroom"

So which version of "Lightroom"?  Lightroom or Lightroom-Classic? It makes a big difference to any answer that might be given. We cannot give an answer if we don't know the details as you might see in the LrC/Lr MENU: Help > System Info...

"has been giving (only) option to Photoshop Beta since I installed it."

TBMK The most recent install of 'Photoshop' becomes the default version that opens.

Lots of posts on this problem- https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/photoshop-beta-install-issue/m-p/1377...

"now Lightroom only has option for Photoshop '22. "

I cannot explain this.

"I read in one of the replies that if Photoshop beta is open it will be an option. NOT SO. Also another reply said create a ?command? (can't remember the name) that would carry out the "edit in Photoshop beta" command."

So which version of "Lightroom" are these replies addressing?

"Before had " All I can do now is 'show file in explorer' and drag into Photoshop Beta - a real pain." But THIS DOESN'T WORK because it's back to CR2 ie my LR edits don't go with it."

If in LrC you save metadata to file [Ctrl+S] (CR2 + Sidecar XMP) then Adobe Camera Raw will recognize and apply the editing metadata before 'opening' the CR3 in Photoshop.

In Lr you 'Share' an image as [Original + Settings] you will also get the CR2 with a sidecar XMP metadata file of edits recognized by ACR and Photoshop.

Keep asking the questions with specific detailed information to expect help from other volunteer users.

Regards. My System: Lightroom-Classic 13.4, Photoshop 25.11, ACR 16.4, Lightroom 7.4.1, Lr-iOS 9.0.1, Bridge 14.1.2, Windows-11.

Would be really great if there were the option of the last two.   (Anyhow sure not doing that for me now)

NEAT!!!    I had no idea you could do that.

I googled 'share from LR' and there's a "share icon" at the top of the page that I don't see???

OK, sorry.
And BIG thanks again.

Which version of Lightroom are you on? This only works for me in Classic but not in Lightroom Cloudy. Lightroom Cloudy has no option to choose anything but the standard Photoshop.

Hi Judy, you don't see it because you have Lightroom-CLASSIC v12. The "share icon" is only in Lightroom-Desktop.

COMPARE Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Ecosystem

"LR Classic  12.5 Release  Camera Raw 15.5"

Be aware- Classic is now at v13.0.1 Photoshop at v25.1  Camera Raw v16.0.1

Updating all is suggested and it will maintain parity (compatibility) between the photography apps.

Thanks again for 'stuff I didn't know'.

Is there some other way to share in LR classic?

Re-reading, always wise, isn't LR classic = LR destop(never heard either called this).   Do you mean LR cloud had the ever elusive share icon?

mystified

Lightroom desktop (i.e. Lightroom Cloudy or "the cloud based Lightroom" and yes it is confusing that Adobe named the cloud based version "desktop") has a share icon but it is just a shortcut to export and a few services. You can't directly share to social media from it for example. That only works on mobile platforms where the share icon has many more options. Sharing in Lightroom Classic works in 100's of ways (in fact more than in Lightroom Cloudy, it is just in more places). You can share through an album on Lightroom cloud, you can share through publish services to flickr, smugmug, zenfolio, etc. The simplest way to share is to export images in the right size and format and upload them through a webbrowser which you can do in both Classic and Cloudy. That said, this is outside of the scope of the original question 😉
