Auto tagging in Lightroom

Community Beginner ,
Oct 12, 2024 Oct 12, 2024

HI, How do we enable auto tagging. It is not working for me. And I wonder if it is because I have loaded photos in to LOCAL directly from One Drive, where I had put photos from the SD card.  Perhaps there is an import function that needs to be used for this? Does anyone know anything about this function?

The automatic keywords that are added in the cloud-based lightroom are not visible to users. They only work through searches in the search bar. So if you are refering to the AI-based automatic keywording that is done in the cloud, there is no way to see those directly. You can only infer that there is an automatic tree keyword attached to your image by searching for "tree" and seeing whether your image pops up.

Oh and the automatic keywording only applies to cloud library images. Images you see in the local browser in Lightroom CLoudy are never indexed by the AI. They are also not searchable globally. Only when you are in the specific folder in the local browser can you search for images inside that folder and only for manually added keywords and titles and metadata already present. Since they are never uploaded to the cloud, the AI never indexes them.

What exactly do you mean with "auto tagging"?

Please describe with much more details what you are looking for and what you are trying to achieve.

As answered below (you might have missed the second part of the answer), the AI does not index local folders, only cloud based ones. Also the keywords it adds to cloud images are not visible and can only be inferred through searching.
