I work for a Community College. As a perk of the job, I have access to adobe creative cloud. I love taking photos and I've started to become more serious so I started reading books for how to take photos better and processing them in lightroom. Suddenly I no longer had my license, I looked at lightroom and it re-assured me I could get my photos out for up to 90 days and some googling led me to believe I could keep them for a year.
So I contact my IT department and they said, no problem Adobe changed how we license the software we will get you added back. They did and when I logged back in all of my Creative Cloud documents were gone. All of the photos over the past year were gone. I had exported my best photos as uploaded them to a portfolio (thank god I didn't use the CC portfolio), but I had many photos that were similar and I decided not to export because I didn't want to upload photos that look too similar.
I assumed the Creative Cloud document store was a safe place. I mean it's in the cloud so hopefully, they can recover/re-link my missing files to my account. We (my IT department because I can't contact adobe due to not being an admin) contacted adobe and they basically shrugged and said "They Can't do anything because it's a federated ID". So I've now lost a year's worth of photography and a handful of XD flows my teams were using to build apps and functionality from.
I'm posting this more as a PSA, don't trust your cloud document store. Back it up to a more reliable service. I will no longer be using Adobe CC products in any capacity and will no longer be recommending it to anyone.
