Blocking Edit Mode in Lightroom Mobile

Participant ,

All,   I would like to use lightroom when mobile to review and manage photos but the software is way too either sensitive or needs another mode  because it seems to automatically want to edit or change ratings etc as there is no just view mode.  If I am wrong please can someone teach me what mode to be in so I can just view my photos without affecting the image or rating etc.?   We need a simple viewer mode to be able to share images and not risk changing something about the image.

Hi @CLPSRQ

Thanks for bringing this up! You're absolutely right—Lightroom Mobile doesn’t currently offer a dedicated "View Only" or "Read-Only" mode.

If you’re using Lightroom on iOS, you’ll see three options at the bottom: Device, Lightroom, and Community. To safely view your photos from your current library, stay on the Lightroom tab.

From there, tap on any photo to open it, and then you can swipe left or right to browse through your images without making any changes—just be mindful not to tap on editing tools.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,

Srishti

Thank you Srishti, it seems like a big miss because the swipe mode is too sensitive.  If you do anything other than a perfect swipe it edits the photo.  Its basically unsueable.  Can this be put it for a future request to add?  Your quote above "just be mindful not to tap on editing tools" is the heart of the problem.  We need a view only mode to make this useable.  Thank you for replying.

Hey @bpw07, I really appreciate you taking the time to share this. A view-only mode sounds like a super helpful idea, and I’d recommend dropping it in the Lightroom Ideas section of the forums. Our product team keeps an eye on ideas and feedback for products over there, and it’s the best place to get suggestions on their radar: https://adobe.ly/3YXPEoI

Thanks again for the thoughtful feedback! ^CH

Reading this with interest. I've been using Lightroom Mobile on iOS for years and cannot recall ever having a similar issue. Just tried navigating around in Eidt Menu and Info and Ratting and seeing no accidental touches.
